Live feeds that cover this map

These open the feed operator's own page. The audio is not replayed through helohavoc.com — RailroadRadio.net is a volunteer-run site paying for its own bandwidth, and Broadcastify's terms (section 9d) flatly prohibit “redistribution, relay, rebroadcast, re-streaming, or embedding” of their audio without a commercial licence. Linking is the clean way to do this.

Coverage is honest, not flattering. Every public feed reaching this area sits on the old Montana Rail Link corridor or up at Whitefish. There is no live feed for the Big Horn Sub, the Casper Sub, eastern Montana past Forsyth, or anywhere in Wyoming. For those, the radio is the only way to hear it.

Want Billings audio nobody else has?
No public feed carries Laurel Yard, the Big Horn Sub, or Billings mechanical. HQ could — an RTL-SDR dongle (about $30) plus rtl_fm feeding the MediaMTX server already running on HQ would put a genuine Billings/Laurel feed on this page, owned end to end, no third party and no terms to worry about. HQ has no SDR hardware attached today. Say the word and it gets built.
Receive only. Every channel here is programmed with the transmit path disabled. Do not transmit on railroad, aviation, NOAA, public-safety, FRS, GMRS or MURS frequencies with a UV-5R — it is not certified for them, and programming software cannot change FCC certification rules.

Aviation is not on this map. The UV-5R cannot receive the airband: it tunes 136–174 MHz and is FM-only, while aviation sits at 118–137 MHz in AM. Use a dedicated scanner.

Corridor lines are approximate routings drawn between town centres to show which channel covers which stretch of country. They are not survey-accurate track alignments — use them to pick a channel, not to find a grade crossing.
